Frequency Handling Capabilities

The most important consideration for a repeater system is the frequencies that it handles. Choosing the wrong frequency for the system will have no affect on increasing the signal inside your building.

DA Series

The DA series repeater system handles all of the frequencies for Cellular 800 MHZ and PCS/GSM 1900MHz (Not Nextel) However, these systems do not have a very large coverage area. (see below)

The CS and SR Series

These professional repeater systems are split into the three cellular systems in use here in the US.

Cellular 800MHz (Verizon, Cellular One, Alltel, etc) CS Series - SR Series

PCS / GSM 1900MHz (Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, etc.) CS Series - SR Series

Nextel iDen SMR 800MHz CS Series - SR Series

Typically most users in a company or household use the same carrier. However, many people want a larger system to handle multiple carriers. In which case two or more systems can be installed along side each other to provide coverage for each carrier. (Please call us for help with this as it can be tricky) The two carriers most used are Cingular and Verizon.

Area sizes to cover

The second most important aspect of selecting a repeater system is the size and configuration of your building and the makeup of the spaces inside. Below is a rough representation of typical system capabilites. Note how the blue areas represent one coverage antenna and the red areas represent the result of a second antenna applied to the system.

Of particular interest is the difference between the CS and SR series repeater systems. Notice how adding a second coverage antenna has a vastly different effect. The CS Series has one coverage antenna output. To use two coverage antennas a splitter/divider must be used. A splitter/divider will evenly distribute the signal between the two coverage antennas thus decreasing the area of coverage that was previously seen with just one coverage antenna.

The SR series has two coverage antenna outputs. This allows you to actually add another full 20K square feet to the system. The amplifier at the heart of the SR Series has a switch that enables the second coverage antenna output. This feature makes it possible to purchase just the base system (1 coverage antenna) and add the second cable and coverage antenna at a later date if needed/desired.
