Connectors used in the Cellular, PCS and Nextel Industry

Note: This page is provided to assist in identifying various connectors used in the cellular industry. We do not sell these connectors separately. If you need an adapter to convert one type of connector to another, please go to our adapters page here. Unless otherwise noted, All connectors on this page are attached to RG58/LMR195 cable. The connectors shown are for identification purposes only. Since they require a crimp tool to install, we do not sell these connectors separately. Please see Connector-Adapter Page for other adapters.

TNC Female Connector
TNC Male Connector Specs

TNC Connector Notes:

Note the TNC has a white collar in the center on both the male and female. Most often confused with the Mini-UHF. The TNC is slightly larger than the Mini-UHF (see below)

FME Female Connector
FME Male Connector

FME Male cable shown: RG174 (thin)

FME Connector Notes:

Probably the most misidentified connector! Note that the MALE has the center PIN. The Female has a receptacle. The center of the connector determines the gender.

Most of our adapters have an FME Male. Most of our mobile antennas have an FME Female. Nokia car kits typically use the FME connector, male on the car kit side, female on the antenna side.

Please note this is NOT an MC connector. MC connectors are not a cellular industry standard and are not supported by most equipment vendors.

Mini-UHF Connector Notes:

Many times the male has the threaded collar that slides back and forth. The female has a few or many "teeth". Common on Motorola car kits. Slightly smaller than the TNC connector (see above). The Mini-UHF connector is used also on AS glass mount antenna coupling boxes. (below)

SMA Male and Female Connector

SMA Connector Notes:

The smallest of the connectors. The connector is barely larger than the RG58/LMR195 Cable. SMA Female shown attached to RG174 cable.

SMA Female cable shown: RG174 (thin)

N Male Connector

N Type Male Connector Specs

N Connector Notes:

Typically found on larger antennas and equipment. Also common to professional antennas and cell site equipment. The N is the largest of the connectors. Note the size compared with the RG58 Cable.
